Inclement Weather
If you are ever in doubt about whether or not an outside practice will be cancelled due to inclement
weather, please call the City of Edmonton at (780)496-4999 and press “1” or
click here
for the City of Edmonton field status link. The Sports Field Weather Status website and information line are
updated once daily at 4:00 p.m., only if weather conditions change. On the weekend or statutory holidays the
information line and website will be updated only if the weather conditions change from Friday; this will be
updated by 10:00 a.m. on weekends.
If the city says the fields are “closed”, practice is cancelled. Please note that our club may be fined and
held liable for damages to the fields if we fail to adhere to closures. If the city says “it is up to the user’s
discretion” and we are not experiencing a thunderstorm, practice will continue as scheduled. Head Coaches and
Team Managers will endeavor to call all players as soon as possible in the event a practice/game is cancelled.
Please keep in mind, however, that at any practice the weather can take a turn for the worse and we may need to
cut the practice short. Please ensure a parent or guardian is either at practice or reachable by phone to pick
up your player.
