The Edmonton Seahawks football team remains undefeated at the midway point of the CDMFA midget spring league after they defeated the Battle River Shock 39 - 18 at Clarke Stadium.

The Shock struck early by implementing a hurry-up offense and going over the top with a deep pass to take a 6-0 lead. The Hawks took the ball and answered back with a 66-yard touchdown run by #42 Joel Gbalou to jump back ahead 8-6. The seesaw battle continued with the Shock striking again with another touchdown pass to go ahead 12-8. After making some adjustments the Seahawks defense settled down and an interception by safety Caleb Olsen spurred the offense to march down the field and score on a 73-yard touchdown run by #42 Joel Gbalou to take the lead back at 15-12.

On the ensuing kick-off, Tyler Reudiger made the score 16-12 with a single after kicking the ball through the end zone.  With the defense now locked in and holding, several gritty 3rd down runs by #24 Melchis Ilungis kept the Seahawks drive moving ending in another 36-yard touchdown by #42 Joel Gbalou to take a 23-12 lead into the half.

Quarterback #2 Derek Kucharski would finish off a 3rd quarter drive with a 2 yard QB sneak to bring the lead to 30-12.

On the following possession, the Shock would score on a fluky play that saw a would-be interception tipped three times landing in the arms of a Shock receiver in full sprint to bring them closer at 30-16.

The Seahawks would seal the game with a 12-yard pass to the end zone caught by #28 Tyler Reudiger.

The Seahawks take the field again on Thursdays April 19, 2018, at Clarke Stadium where they face the Lloydminster Red Dogs who are undefeated in the past two seasons. Kick off is 6:45 pm. $5 fee for anyone 12 and older.
