The Seahawks faced off against the Ft McMurray Ravens to close out the 2018 Midget spring league on Saturday, May 5, 2018. The Seahawks and Ravens previously met in the final game of the 2017 season at Commonwealth Stadium where the Seahawks pulled out a win with a pass to the end zone with mere seconds on the clock. This game would not be as close.

The Seahawks started fast with the defense forcing the Ravens to punt on the opening possession. The Hawks offense would strike quickly with a 6 play 63-yard drive finished off with a 3-yard run by #42 Joel Gbalou. The Seahawks defense would again force a Ravens punt on a 2 and out. The Ravens would take advantage of an offside penalty and score a 40-yard run to tie the game with 3:55 left in the 1st.

The Seahawks would answer back immediately with a 7 play 64-yard drive finished off with QB Derek Kucharski sneaking in for a touchdown to give the Hawks a 14-7 lead as the buzzer sounds signaling the end of the 1st quarter.

The defense would shut down the Ravens in the 2nd quarter and the offense would add two touchdowns by #35 Mathew Olivo. One a 38-yard pass and run, the other a 5-yard run to cap off a 7 play 68-yard drive. The Seahawks led 28-7 at the half.

The 2nd half wasn’t much better for the Ravens. A 23-yard kick return would set the Hawks up on the 54-yard line. The following 9 play 56-yard drive would finish with running back Mathew Olivo scoring his 3rd touchdown of the game giving the Hawks a 35-7 lead with 7:00 left in the 3rd.

The Ravens would take advantage of the Seahawks playing their younger players and score on a quick 4 play drive to chip away at the 35-14 lead. The Seahawks offense would put it away with a 38-yard completion to receiver Brady Fedyniak in the end zone. The Hawks lead was now 41-14 with 1:35 left in the 3rd.

The Ravens would add one more touchdown to end the 3rd quarter but that would be as close as they would get. Running back Mathew Olivo would punch in his 4th touchdown of the game in the 4th quarter to seal the victory for the Seahawks 47-28.

The 2018 Midget Seahawks had a fantastic season coming within 1.7 seconds of being undefeated. They would finish with a 5-1 record. It has been a great season and the organization would like to congratulate the graduating midget players and wish them all the best in the future. Four of our graduating players have the distinction of playing 10 seasons, Atom to Midget and they are #2 Derek Kucharski, #17 Mavrick Choufi, #67 Anthony Chinni, #64 Ty Thompson.
